Window Blinds Cleaning

Window blinds are this part of your home that is not only visible from inside, but also exposed to view from outside your home. Having clean and nice window blinds do not only enhance the look and feel of your room, but also represents the look of your home to the outside world. It is therefore very important that your blinds are clean and dust-free at all times. This might be quite challenging as dust and dirt easily accommodate on window blinds both form outside and from inside the house.

Window blinds cleaning is a difficult task if you do not know exactly how to do it. There are many different ways to clean your blinds, but it is important that you use the most appropriate method for your type of windows blinds.

Some types of blinds like the aluminium blinds can be easy to maintain as they can be washed and vacuumed for a quick and easy window blinds cleaning. As their surface is very smooth, it is relatively easy to dust and clean aluminium blinds. If you do the windows blinds cleaning on regular bases, you will not need to use the vacuum cleaner every time as there will be less dust and dirt to be cleaned. You can do that simply by using a soft clean cloth.

However, if there is a lot of dist or dirt that needs to be removed from your blinds, you will probably need to wash them. There are two general ways to that. You can either take them down to wash them or just wipe them with damp cloth using all surfaces cleaner. If you decide to wash them properly, fill the bath tub with mild soapy water and then carefully soak the window blinds in. Leave them there for a couple of minutes and then rinse. Use a dry cloth or leave them in open are to ensure that they are completely dry before you put them back on the windows.

Cleaning wood blinds however might be a bit more complicated, as you cannot just wash them. The only appropriate cleaning method for wood blinds would be vacuuming carefully. Make sure that you do not blend them as they might get broken. It is also not appropriate to use a cloth to remove dust as it will push the dist into the wood and you will not be able to take it out even with careful vacuuming afterwards.
Finally, cleaning fabric blinds also requires a great deal of care and knowledge. Some fabric blinds can be washed, but you need to check carefully what the label says and what the cleaning directions are. Most fabric blinds can be regularly cleaned by hovering. You have to be very gentle and make sure that you only use the small brush as strong hovering can easily damage the blinds.

If in doubt about what the type of your blinds is and how to clean them, you can always contact a professional cleaning company like Poly Cleaning for an advice.
