Removal Tips for Carpet and Upholstery

  • First absorb the extra wine with a cloth.Dissolve one tablespoon ammonia in one cup of warm water and with the resulting solution, sponge the stain properly. Leave it for 10 minutes and then soak up the stain again with a clean cloth.
  • If you wish, you could sprinkle some table salt over the wet stain and leave for the night. On the next day you can vacuum to remove the stain completely.
  • Another thing worth trying is pouring club soda generously over the carpet stain. Blot with cloth to dry and then cover the stain with salt. Leave it until it becomes dry, then vacuum.
  • For white colored carpets and tablecloths, you should apply hydrogen peroxide on the stain and then mop it with a mild carpet shampoo and water.
  • Mix water with non-chlorine soap powder until it becomes a paste. Cover the red wine stain and leave that way for 5-10 minutes. Then wash the tablecloth as you usually do.
  • To get rid of a wine stain from wooden furniture, use paste wax, silver polish or a cloth moisturized with ammonia to rub on the stained area. If this doesn’t help to remove the spot, make a thin paste of boiled linseed oil and rottenstone, and using your finger, rub it into the stain. Later, you can polish or wax the furniture.
